“The Red Skelton Baseball” is a rare and unique professional baseball of approximately 3” in diameter and 5 ounces in weight which was hand-signed by the internationally recognized artist, humanitarian and actor, Red Skelton. It is believed that Mr. Skelton signed only two baseballs in his lifetime in the hope that these unique baseball trophies could be sold with the proceeds going to charity. Mr. Skelton enjoyed playing baseball in his youth, and he was trained by the clowns who travelled with him and his mother in the Hagenbach and Wallace Circus. Red’s mother encouraged little Red as early as five years old to play baseball with the other clowns. Red became a lifelong fan of the game but had to stop playing as his career advanced in the performing arts. This unique work of art is both rare and valuable.
