“A Smiling Clown” is an original, unique, one-of-a-kind prismatic oil pencil drawing on linen, hand-signed by the internationally recognized artist, actor, humanitarian and philanthropist, Red Skelton. This work of art was created on Red’s birthday, July 18 in 1982 when the artist was visiting Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence at the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, California. The clown featured in the drawing had beautiful, piercing blue eyes and an orange nose. Sometime after the original drawing was completed, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence gifted this work of art to their secretary. The artwork is drawn on linen from the Hotel Del Coronado’s main dining room and it measures approximately 10.5” tall by 14” wide. The clown measures approximately 10.5” tall by 6” wide.
