“Scottie” is an original, one-of-a-kind prismatic oil pencil drawing on linen, hand-signed by the internationally acclaimed artist, actor, humanitarian and philanthropist, Red Skelton. This very important work of art is superbly framed using the highest quality of museum materials to preserve and protect the original work of art. The drawing measures approximately 19” x 16”. Is signed by Red Skelton who wrote the title “Scottie” and dated the original artwork 1984. This work of art was drawn on a United Airlines linen which Red loved to draw on in order to create his lovable clowns. Mrs. Red Skelton confirms that “Scottie” is one of Mr. Skelton’s best drawings as it captures the delightful smile of a clown with a large beautifully tied bowtie covering a ruffled collar. Perhaps it was a clown calling on another clown. “Scottie” has red hair which might suggest that this drawing is actually a self-portrait of a young Red Skelton. The hat worn by “Scottie” suggests that this is a formal painting of a clown which is highlighted by large eyes which allows the viewer to peer into the soul of this special character.
