Product Description:
“Happy Face” is a limited-edition lithograph printed on fine artist’s paper bearing the signature of the internationally acclaimed artist, humanitarian, and philanthropist, Red Skelton.
This extremely popular and rare lithograph measures approximately 20” x 16” and has been framed. This lithograph was distributed by Brown and Bigelow circa 1969—1970 and the edition was entirely sold out days after its release.
Although we have not inspected the lithograph outside of the frame, Brown and Bigelow printed the following wording on the white margin below the lithograph on the lower right:
“Printed by Brown and Bigelow”
“Div. of Standard Packing Corp., USA”
Additional language can be found on the margin as follows:
“Copyright 1970 Richard (Red) Skelton”
All of Mr. Skelton’s portraits of clowns are individuals he either knew or respected throughout his life. It is believed “Happy Face” reflects a portrait of Jacob Adler, a clown who Mr. Skelton knew and respected.
